Poetry Absurdity: Mr. Slightly Psycho

knife67

They call me Mr. Slightly Psycho.

Nope. No way.

I have no idea why.

I’m just a little strange. A little odd. A little weird.

Wait! That’s not all!

My smile is kind of crooked. My hair is always in shambles.

My clothes are stained and sort of unfashionable.

Everyone calls me Mr. Slightly Psycho.

Indeed! I must agree!

Talking to shadows,

Sitting alone,

My phone never rings.

Yup. I know why.

I’m Mr. Slightly Psycho.

I got a drawer full of knives.

Yup—huh-huh—I do!

They each have a name.

Some are serrated. Some are dull. Some are rusty.

Some are bloody.

These are my friends.

They never judge.

Until I tell them to.

You know why?

I’m Mr. Slightly Psycho.

Never cared about much.

Never felt much.

Never ate much.

Emptiness in my belly.

I feed on everyone’s gullibility.

There’s no doubt about it.

They call me Mr. Slightly Psycho.

  4. When writing is well done, it’s hard to explain all the specifics as to why it is; you just feel it in your gut; hence two of my many favorite lines from your poem:
    Emptiness in my belly.
    I feed on everyone’s gullibility.

So scary good with twisted humor, to boot!
